Here she rests. by LordLJCornellPhotos Here she rests. by LordLJCornellPhotos
You all know how I love to photograph this boat which is stranded on the shore. It is a sad but beautiful sight to me. I have become very attached to this boat. To me it has become a part of the landscape there. Here she rests with Ben Nevis in the background.

This boat was left stranded on the shore during a bad storm some time ago. The tide has never been high enough since to re-float the boat so it remains stuck on land rotting away. It is near Corpach, across the water from Fort William in the Scottish Highlands.
The boat is called the MV Dayspring and she foundered on Dec 8th 2011.

Here is some of her history

I like when you say, "It is a sad but beautiful sight to me".
It was the first feeling that came over me, I had when I clicked on it. Therefore this photo has intense emotive qualities. :aww:

I also love how dramatic it looks, probably due to the stellar contrast in lighting, and amazing composition!

Despite any of the realities of the boat's history, (which I love that you have shared!) can you imagine "the stories" this boat could tell/have?
You have truly captured an air of nautical mystery here! I really love it!
Super work!

Is that title the Brit version of our "that she sits"?

Neat old beached ship. Love the lighting, the sky and the shadows. Do you use some kind of filter for this effect?

This shot reminds me of the 1980 TV miniseries "Shogun", about an Englishman pseudo-pirate who becomes marooned in Japan after his ship is lost; based on the novel of the same name by James Clavell.

It could be. It sounds like it has a similar meaning.

This is natural light in the highlands. No filters used at all.
I'm presuming you mean a filter like on instagram ?????
This was taken as a RAW file and edited in photoshop like 99% of my pictures.
There are times I may use a filter when shooting but that will likely only be a polarizer, a grey grad or
a Big Stopper if I want a long exposure. Otherwise no filters. Certainly I don't use
any filters that give effects.

I remember Shogun. I never really got hooked on it though.

Sad but beautiful is the perfect description. Man made things become part of the landscape when they stop being useful and become memorable instead
