Telescope or fairground ride? by LordLJCornellPhotos Telescope or fairground ride? by LordLJCornellPhotos
Last week I went away for a couple of days for my birthday. On Friday I went to the Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre. This is where you find the Lovell Telescope which is a parabolic reflecting radio telescope....(I think)
This is the Lovell Telescope :)

Hope your birthday was a great one!  My how this year has flown by.  What an interesting looking structure radio telescopes are.  Astronomers have some neat toys, I mean tools.  The white against the dark clouds really stands out.

It truly is! Wish I had talent to engineer things like that. My uncle was an engineer who designed gear mechanisms for old, mechanical cash registers. Amazing stuff. I used to love to look at his drawings on the walls of his office. I became an electronics engineer, but that mechanical stuff has always fascinated me.
