Those old stones have stories to tell by LordLJCornellPhotos Those old stones have stories to tell by LordLJCornellPhotos
This is Helmsley Castle in North Yorkshire. The first castle here was built from wood around 1120 and was then changed to stone some fifty years later. I am calling this a landscape because I have treated it as such. The old buildings are returning to nature slowly. The town of Helmsely falls within the North York Moors National Park in northern England.

Is this castle rock owned by the English Trust, forget what the trust is called,
or are you able to climb the castle walls, or are the stones too fragile for climbing...

I am a climber and would love to scale the wall.....LOL

Anyway, this is a truly excellent photo,,,,those colors of grass and stonework are beautiful

It's run by English Heritage. Although you are free to go anywhere you like you are not allowed to climb the walls. You are right, they are too fragile.
Thank you very much :D

Looks like it's still habitable for an overnight if one doesn't mind the risk of falling stones. Very nice image
