Hi everyone. Well guess what just happened to me? I have gained some wings in that I am an Angel Without Wings.
I was nominated by who wrote some really lovely, kind things about me. Thank you Linnea. It is really lovely to feel appreciated even though I just do my thing. I am delighted that you like me doing my thing
So that has just happened which surprised me and made me happy. Some of you know that May has not been the kindest of months to me although it has all ended as well as I could have hoped for. More health issues (not mine this time) involving the discovery of a brain tumour in someone very close to me, finding out it is inoperable because of it's location, a biopsy and the wait for the results of the biopsy. The results were good by the way. (A benign meningioma. Just some radiotherapy to control it a bit) ) All of this has been very stressful and draining emotionally and physically. And yet, here we are in June and things are looking more positive already. There were times two or three weeks ago when I was struggling. Things looked bleak and I was fearing the worst as you do. I felt a long way from hope at that time yet somehow you keep moving forward each day and putting on your brave face.
And now I am an Angel Without Wings. With the news that the tumour was benign, the surgeon called it an angel. It seems all things are linked in this life in one way or another.
I would just like to say, once again, that my friends at dA have helped me through this time. Some through being prepared to listen to me talk about it. Some through just being their normal, wonderful selves and therefore just the distraction I needed. Again and again I find myself here as a refuge from the more difficult aspects of life. This is my bolt hole. My den. My oasis. My comfort blanket. I have many dear friends here and I look for you all whenever I am here. Thank you so much for all that you do for me.
It has been a little while since my last journal as I have been rather busy but here, at last, is my chance to share and showcase your works. Sit back and enjoy some of my favourites from the last ten weeks or so. Make yourself a cup of tea and put your feet up. Don't rush. There is plenty of time to enjoy them.
There you are. I hope you find something to enjoy among these offerings. As usual, I am sure these artists would welcome your likes and comments. Please take the time if you have it to spare
Thank you for reading this far and I hope you have a lovey day wherever you are. Never take life for granted. Live each day as if it's your last. Spread your love around.
See you all soon I am sure

Merry Christmas everyone.
Merry Christmas everyone. It has been a cold week here. Colder than we have seen for many a year. Even here, in the south of England, we had snow a week ago and it is still here because it has been so cold. I would say I love this weather if I didn't have to drive in it very early in the morning  I love the feeling of the cold biting at my fingers and toes and how my nose tingles and my eyes water. I love pulling on my thick socks and my big, heavy jumpers (sweaters). Pulling on my serious walking boots and zipping up my serious coat. I use the word serious because this is the weather these things were designed for. You couldn't wear this coat unless the temperature was below zero or you'd be too hot. My fleecy hat tops it off and I feel well protected but I can still feel how cold it is without actually freezing out there. The main roads have been cleared pretty well but the side roads have been left as have the pavements (sidewalks) which makes it quite exciting walking
The season of the witch.
Here we are just past Halloween. Last night was bonfire night over here where we have huge bonfires and fireworks displays. These events really do mark deep autumn time and the rapid approach of winter. It hasn't really been that cold yet but, in contrast to the previous dry months it has been very wet. To celebrate all this wetness I am going to the Isle Of Skye next weekend for a few days. I know I always joke about Scotland being wet so 'take your coat' when you go............well this year it has been very wet so it is going to be a challenging week. You know I don't mind a bit of rain but I am already preparing myself for the possibility of this being a bit of a wash out. You never know though. You have to get out there anyway because if you are not there you can't shoot it. So I'm going to put myself out here at least and see what happens. I have been thinking about the differences between Skye (which is the Inner Hebrides) and Harris and Lewis etc. (the Outer Hebrides) and I
A Hebridean Odyssey
And I am back from my first trip to the Outer Hebrides. Here is my GPS trace for the time I was there. I left Oban for Castlebay in the south on the Monday and then worked my way up to leave Stornaway for Ullapool on the Wednesday nine days later. The GPS failed on the last ferry to Ullapool because it was a much newer ferry and all the electronics from the bridge interfered with my little unit. The Outer Hebrides or the Western Isles (also known as Na h-Innse Gall or the Long Isle) is a group of islands that lie off the north west coast of Scotland. The Isle Of Skye lies between the Outer Hebrides and the mainland. On my trip I got the Calmac ferry from Oban to Castlebay on the Isle of Barra in the south. I was there Monday and Tuesday night then moved on by ferry to Eriskay and a drive through South Uist, Benbecula into north Uist. I stayed there Wednesday and Thursday night then on by ferry from Berneray to Leverburgh on Harris. I stayed near Tarbert for two nights. Then on
Island hopping.
Ladies and gentlemen the excitement is building here. On Saturday I am heading off to the Outer Hebrides for a couple of weeks. I will be island hopping as I try to see as much as I can of the islands. This is the first time I will have been there and I can't wait. Although I have been looking and doing research I always find that nothing really prepares you properly. It is not till you are there that you can get a feel of the place and try to become one with it. On Saturday I'm driving to Fort William and then on Sunday I go to Oban. It is from here that I get the ferry to the Isle of Barra on Monday morning. I spend a day or so here before catching another ferry to Eriskay then drive across the causeway to South Uist and then onto Benbecula also reached by a causeway. I then stay in North Uist. There are six islands here all joined by causeways. From there on Friday off to Harris. There for a couple of days then on to Lewis on the Sunday. I'm there till the Wednesday when I head
